How the edition is decided

The National Electrical Code is republished every three years, and each state decides for itself when to adopt a new edition. Your licensing exam is written against the edition your state enforces, so studying the wrong one wastes months.

CortovaVoltPrep teaches NEC 2023 and NEC 2026 and switches between them with a toggle. The adoption data behind these pages was cross-checked against two independent published trackers on July 28, 2026. Where those trackers disagreed or were silent, this site publishes nothing — a guessed adoption year sends you to the wrong code book, which is worse than saying “we do not know”.
