Refunds and chargebacks
The plain-language version of the refund rule: 7 days, four conditions, one request.
Am I eligible?
A refund is available within 7 days of purchase when all four of these are true. The same rule is stated in the Terms of Use, Refund policy, and the system checks the same four conditions an administrator sees.
- Less than 10% of the course has been completed.
- No major assessments have been taken.
- No referral benefits have been used.
- No terms have been violated.
Outside those conditions, all sales are final except at Cortova's discretion.
How to request a refund
- Open Help from the course rail (or the help button on any page) and choose Billing or refund question, or use the Refund request button on your Account page.
- Tell us the email you purchased with and, optionally, why. You do not have to give a reason.
- Send it. You get a ticket confirmation by email right away.
What happens next
- An administrator reviews your request against the four conditions above, using your account's recorded activity.
- The decision and its reason are recorded in the audit log with the policy version you agreed to at checkout.
- You receive the decision by email. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method through Stripe.
- On approval, course access ends and any referral codes issued from that purchase are disabled.
Chargebacks
Please ask us first: a refund request is faster than a dispute and does not lock your account. If a chargeback is initiated, the Terms of Use, Chargeback procedure applies:
- Access is paused immediately.
- Any unused referral codes are disabled.
- Any bonus days are paused or flagged.
- The course content is treated as copyrighted and proprietary and we respond to the dispute accordingly.
Refund questions
I bought Calculations Only and passed my exam. Can I switch it for the NEC lane?
Lanes are not swapped after purchase. A Rescue purchase can be upgraded to Full Pass for the difference in price, which unlocks both lanes (Terms, "Purchase paths"). If you are inside the refund window and meet all four conditions you can request a refund and buy the lane you need instead.
Can I extend my access?
Yes. Successful referrals add seven days each (up to fourteen), and an upgrade from Rescue to Full Pass extends access to at least 90 days from the upgrade. If your access has lapsed, open Help from the course rail and choose Billing — we can quote a re-enrollment.
What counts as 10% of the course?
Completion percent = full-length practice answers you have submitted ÷ your program size. Program sizes: Journeyman 80, Master 100, Wireman 100. So a Journeyman who has answered 8 or more full-length questions has reached 10%.
What is a "major assessment"?
Any full-length practice session that reaches its score screen. Trial questions and study-lab drills are not major assessments; a full-length session you abandon before the score screen is not either.
What counts as using a referral benefit?
Either of these: you enrolled with someone else's referral code, or someone enrolled with a code you were issued and you received bonus days for it. Simply having unused codes does not count.
How long does a decision take, and how is the money returned?
An administrator reviews the request, records the reason for the decision, and emails you. Approved refunds go back to the original payment method through Stripe; banks usually post them within 5–10 business days.
